Photo printer: HP Sprocket prints inkless

By Tare Youdeowei One of the world’s smallest photo printers, the Sprocket by Hewlett-Packard, HP, has debuted in Nigeria.
The inkless photo printer which is smaller than the average smart phone, 5 x 7.6 cm, can be carried around like an accessory to print photos from smart phones or tablet virtually anywhere via Bluetooth.
Speaking at the  launch of HP Sprocket at Hard Rock Cafe, Lagos, Managing Director, HP Central Africa, Mrs Ifeyinwa Afe, said; “Our promise is to continue to engineer technology that meets consumers’ need and amazes them, hence the HP Sprocket.
This innovation is about capturing memorable moments on the go without hassle, and this is credited to its accessory-style size.” Revealing the features of the device to the public, Print Category Manager, HP Central Africa, Mr. Allison Alassan enthused; “The aim is to let consumers print immediately from their smart phone. It doesn’t stop there; images can be printed using the HP Sprocket App where images can be edited, filtered, frames, emojis and captions can be added before printing. “The Sprocket produces smudge-proof, water-resistant and tear-resistant photos to share, or peel-and-stick to decorate bedroom walls, backpacks or create collages and art projects. HP Sprocket, which is now available at a recommended retail price of N45,999, comes in  white with rose gold accents, and black with silver accents, and comes with a 10-pack of HP ZINK (zero ink)Photo Paper and packs of HP ZINK Photo Paper of 20 sheets per pack.”
